Modern road infrastructure consists of much more than just lanes and road surfaces. Sustainable and safe mobility requires high-quality engineering structures that enable, guide and cross traffic.
Within our Civil & Infrastructure division, ZÜBLIN Nederland focuses specifically on engineering structures – that is, all civil engineering works required to ensure the functioning of a road, railway line or canal, often with the aim of bridging an obstacle (such as water or another road). These are often complex, specially designed structures of high structural and architectural quality, requiring specific technical expertise for their design, construction and maintenance.
Specialisation in engineering structures within road infrastructure
We focus on the construction of civil engineering structures that form an integral part of road and transport projects. These structures act as the link between design, function and the surrounding environment.
Our core activities within road infrastructure include, amongst others:
- Bridges and viaducts
- Tunnels and tunnel boxes (open and closed)
- Shared or combined tunnel structures
- Ducts and service passages
- Concrete retaining structures and supporting elements
This work requires a high degree of technical precision, coordination and experience with complex concrete structures.
Integration within larger infrastructure projects
Thanks to our strong position within the group, we are able to integrate seamlessly with other infrastructure components, without being actively involved in:
- Groundworks and excavation works
- Road construction and asphalt surfacing
- Hydraulic engineering works

Groningen Southern Ring Road
ZÜBLIN Nederland worked as part of the Herepoort Consortium on the Groningen Southern Ring Road, a large-scale infrastructure project that has significantly improved the city’s accessibility and quality of life. The project transforms a busy thoroughfare into a future-proof link with more space for safety, traffic flow and green spaces.
A15 Maasvlakte–Vaanplein
From Maasvlakte to Vaanplein, the A15 serves as the economic lifeline of the Port of Rotterdam. With the new Botlek Bridge as its engineering showpiece, this concession project enhances the flow of traffic, capacity and reliability of a crucial European transport corridor.
Amsterdam North-South Line
Right beneath the historic heart of Amsterdam, one of Europe’s most complex metro projects was completed. Using precision techniques such as tunnel boring, ground freezing and compensation grouting, construction took place just centimetres away from existing buildings. The North–South Line is therefore not only a transport route, but also a testament to exceptional underground craftsmanship.
Randstadrail Rotterdam Staten Tunnel
Deep beneath Rotterdam city centre, work was underway on a crucial link in the Randstad metro network. With complex underground engineering techniques, construction under high water pressure and minimal space above ground level, the Statentunnel demanded the utmost precision. The result is a robust metro tunnel where engineering and urban dynamism converge.
Zaltbommel Ring Road
Around Zaltbommel, the N322 has been given a complete makeover. With smart infrastructure, new engineering structures and safety features for all road users, the bypass has been designed to be future-proof. Under a UAV-GC contract, ZÜBLIN Nederland was responsible for the entire design and construction, in the midst of a busy and sensitive environment.
Dafne Schippers Bridge
Cycling over a school, a park and the water: the Dafne Schippers bridge demonstrates how infrastructure can be more than just a connection. This iconic cycle and pedestrian bridge links Utrecht city centre with Leidsche Rijn in a single elegant sweep. The project is a striking example of sustainable and intelligent use of urban space.
Cuijk-Mook Cycle Bridge
A fast and comfortable cycle route is being created across the Maas between Cuijk and Mook. The cycle bridge forms a vital link in the MaasWaalpad and makes sustainable commuting to Nijmegen more attractive. With this new crossing, the F73 fast cycle route will gain momentum, both literally and figuratively.
Zwolle Bridge
Like a red thread running through the landscape, the new railway bridge connects Zwolle and Hattem across the IJssel. This striking truss bridge combines a railway line and a high-speed cycle route in a single, powerful piece of infrastructure. This iconic crossing has provided the region with a quieter, forward-looking and instantly recognisable link.
Bridge over the Waal
A bridge is being built across the Waal, creating scope for growth. The new concrete cable-stayed bridge has widened a crucial section of the A50 and made it future-proof. The project improves traffic flow on one of the Netherlands’ busiest corridors and demonstrates craftsmanship under extreme traffic and environmental conditions.
