Sustainable Construction Sites - DGNB

With this new certification, the DGNB is introducing a clear standard for sustainable processes on the construction site. The comprehensive guidelines are divided into five main criteria that ensure sustainability throughout the entire construction process – and go beyond mere environmental protection. For example, they also take into account the organisation of the construction site, the responsible use of resources, health and social aspects, communication with the local community and quality control.

Sustainable construction is the norm

With the ‘Sustainable Construction Site’ basic certificate, which applies to the entire STRABAG-ZÜBLIN Group, ZÜBLIN Nederland already meets the key sustainability requirements set out in the DGNB criteria. The very first project to be certified according to this standard was the Saalburgallee construction project in Frankfurt am Main for ZÜBLIN Germany. Within the Benelux region, the first project in accordance with the DGNB guidelines was launched in Belgium (Bargiekaai in Ghent). Following a number of DGNB construction sites in Belgium, the first DGNB construction site in the Netherlands also followed (&Amsterdam in Amsterdam).

Thanks to efficient and largely standardised processes, ZÜBLIN Nederland can now apply the DGNB criteria quickly and consistently to other construction sites. Sustainable construction processes – from groundworks to completion

DGNB certification serves as a planning and management tool specifically designed to address the construction site process and project delivery throughout the entire duration of a construction project. The focus is on all activities taking place during the construction, renovation or alteration of buildings and other structures. The assessment is based on evidence uploaded by the project team to the DGNB certification system. The DGNB evaluates all submitted documents via this platform. The DGNB pre-certificate, which can be obtained at the start of the project, forms the basis for the final certification. The final certification is awarded upon completion of the works, provided that the sustainability criteria have been met throughout the entire project.
