E.ON Power Station
The Maasvlakte Power Plant 3 in Rotterdam is a large-scale and technically complex energy project that Ed. Züblin AG carried out for E.ON Benelux between 2008 and 2012.
The construction of Maasvlakte Power Plant 3 in Rotterdam was successfully completed by Ed. Züblin AG, in collaboration with TBI Infra Mobilis and DYWIDAG Bau GmbH. The project was carried out on behalf of E.ON Benelux and involved the construction of a modern coal-fired power station with an installed capacity of 1,100 MW. The total contract value amounted to €158 million, with Züblin responsible for approximately 50 per cent of the work.
The works took place between November 2008 and December 2012 and comprised a wide range of construction activities, including earthworks, concrete and reinforced concrete works, bricklaying and various finishing works.
The scale of the project is evident from the substantial quantities of materials and structures used, including:
- ± 9,000 m² of sheet piling
- ± 250,000 m³ of earthworks
- ± 138,000 m³ of concrete and reinforced concrete
- ± 2,200 m³ of prefabricated elements
- ± 217,000 m² of formwork, including sliding and box formwork
- ± 21,700 tonnes of reinforcing steel
The construction schedule was partly provided by E.ON. The joint venture was responsible for drawing up the reinforcement drawings, the prefabricated structures, the steelwork and various auxiliary systems. For a number of ancillary buildings, the consortium also carried out the full engineering work.

The work was carried out professionally, on time and in full compliance with the contract, whilst adhering to all applicable safety and quality requirements. The client regards ZÜBLIN as a reliable construction partner and has given explicit permission to use this project as a reference for technical competence.
