Botlek HYCO 5 Facility, Rotterdam

ZÜBLIN Nederland is building a state-of-the-art carbon capture and CO₂ processing plant in the Botlek area on behalf of Air Products, which will form the basis of Europe’s largest blue hydrogen plant.

ZÜBLIN Nederland is building a state-of-the-art carbon capture and carbon dioxide (CO₂) processing plant (CCS) for Air Products at its existing hydrogen plant in the Botlek area of Rotterdam. The plant is expected to be operational in 2026, and the ‘blue’ hydrogen will supply both the ExxonMobil (Esso) refinery in Rotterdam and other customers via Air Products’ hydrogen pipeline network.

This will be the largest blue hydrogen plant in Europe once it becomes operational.

The complex project is being carried out by TM ZÜBLIN Nederland – STRABAG Belgium and various subcontractors. In addition to the concrete work for various sub-buildings, they are also responsible for the groundworks, pipework (including fire-fighting pipework) and earthing works.
