‘Bewuste Bouwers’ audit for the &Amsterdam project: scored above the standard!

A brilliant result

On 25 March 2026, the Bewuste Bouwers audit took place at our &Amsterdam project. During this audit visit, the assessors evaluated how we are implementing the Bewuste Bouwers code of conduct on site and how sustainable building is put into practice.

The result is impressive, with a score above the standard. This is a fine achievement and a clear compliment to the entire project team, who contribute to this every day through their conscious efforts. 

What is Bewuste Bouwers?

ZÜBLIN Nederland is a member of Bewuste Bouwers and has registered the &Amsterdam project in order to actively integrate the code of conduct into our business processes and corporate culture. This code of conduct provides guidance on conscious building, with a focus on:

• environmental management
• corporate social responsibility
• safety
• craftsmanship
• sustainability

Sustainable building in practice at &Amsterdam

During the audit, it was established that these principles are not only set out at &Amsterdam, but are also visibly and demonstrably applied. This is evident, amongst other things, from:

• A tidy and well-organised construction site, which is inspected weekly as part of the ‘Ronde van Amsterdam’. Materials and equipment are stored safely and in an organised manner, and public roads are cleaned daily whilst earthworks are in progress. We receive compliments on this from visitors, neighbours and the local council.
• Proactive and transparent communication with the local community. There is regular, personal contact with immediate neighbours and the local council, as well as via WhatsApp, newsletters and email. Local residents are informed in advance about any potential disruption and are consulted afterwards. So far, this has resulted in nothing but positive feedback.
• ‘Bewuste Bouwers’ banners on the site hoardings, featuring an email address and a QR code for reporting issues via www.verbeterdebouw.nl. Reports are received directly by the site manager and the security service and are followed up via a set procedure that is embedded in our business processes.
• A digital 6-week planning board, visible in several locations around the office and on the construction site. This is used to kick off the daily stand-up each morning and gives everyone involved an insight into the schedule and logistics. Suppliers are even automatically directed to the correct gate as a result — an approach that the auditor described as distinctive and effective.
• A systematic focus on safety and craftsmanship, achieved through measures such as guided site tours, a fully equipped emergency response team, clear project information and a working environment in which people of different nationalities work together in an open and respectful culture.

More than just an audit result

In the afterword to the audit report, the auditor emphasises that the project office, the construction site and the way the team works together demonstrate commitment, structure, tidiness and care for people and the environment.
This audit confirms that a construction site is not a world unto itself, but an active and responsible part of society. We are proud of how our team puts this into practice every day.
